SEGMENT·SCOPE

Voice

Voice is where we collect the voices of people who choose cars and share them across brand lines. It surfaces what spec sheets can't — why people chose a car, and why they didn't — tallied and published by respondent status.

Posting a call needs no sign-in and no name, so not even the operator has a record of who posted it. Respondents' emails are never shared with organizers or any other company.

Anyone — company or individual — can post a call without revealing who they are. See how organizer anonymity works → Anonymity & Data →

Model Voice

For each model on sale, we collect the voices of owners, shoppers, people who considered it but passed, and more. Which features clinched a purchase, why people walked away, which features were missing and what they chose instead are hard for any automaker to see. You can respond on each model's Voice page or from the Benchmark compare pages (price, spec and equipment comparison); voices from either place are tallied together and shown on both.

Idea calls

We publish ideas for new cars that don't exist yet and gather reactions such as “would you want it?” and “what would you pay?”. Anyone — company or individual — can apply anonymously without signing in, and calls go live after the operator approves them. The operator only reviews for compliance with the terms and does not evaluate or advise on the ideas themselves.

Respondent status

At the start of a response, you choose how you relate to the model from the five options below. The questions differ by status, and results are shown separately for each.

Current owner

You own this model now.

We ask what clinched the purchase (up to 3 features), what you like, what you don't, and which models you compared.

Previous owner

You owned this model before.

Same questions as for owners.

Currently shopping

You're shopping for a car now.

We ask which models you're comparing, which features matter most (up to 3) and what you're unsure about.

Considered but passed

You seriously considered it but didn't buy.

We ask why you passed, which features were missing (up to 3) and what you chose instead.

Just interested

You're not buying but you're interested.

We ask which features you'd want or what should be improved.

How to read the results

  • We publish aggregated results and masked free-text answers. Figures for models or groups with fewer than 5 respondents are hidden (the next smallest group may be hidden too, so it can't be worked out by subtraction).
  • With few responses, rankings and percentages swing widely. Always read them together with the response counts.
  • Every respondent is signed in with a Google account, and each person has one response per model (editable; responding again overwrites it). Responding from Voice or from Benchmark counts as the same single response.
  • Responses are voluntary, so they are not a sample that represents the whole market. People with strong interest, or strong satisfaction or dissatisfaction, tend to be over-represented.
  • Free-text answers are published on the model page (excerpts on Benchmark) with email addresses, URLs and phone numbers masked, and are not linked to when they were sent or to the same person's other answers.

Respondent privacy

Responses are tallied as one dataset and shown on both the model's Voice page and the Benchmark compare pages. Your name, email and Google account details are never shown or shared. Figures for models or groups with fewer than 5 respondents are not displayed. Free-text answers are published with email addresses, URLs and phone numbers masked, and are never linked to when you answered or to your other answers. Questions about yourself are optional and are not used in the published figures.
